I’m shaving my lid for all brave kids!
As most of you know my youngest daughter Ariana Pohio (aka) Harry was Diagnosed with cancer in 2008. She relapsed in July 2010. We spent 8 months in Auckland away from home and family. During her treatment she under went High dose chemo, raditation and a bone marrow transplant, it was a challenging time. She has know nearly 3,000 Beads of Courage for all her treatment and has two purple hearts for completion of her direct treatment.
We had AWESOME support from familys and friends at home, the Child Cancer Foundation and Canteen. I am doing this to give a bit back, the work and support that this Charity provides is amazing!! And I can say that having had there support for the last 3 1/2 years.
I’ll be shaving my lid on 15th October between 2 -3pm at the showgrounds near the events centre. Come down and watch, it’ll be heaps of fun!

More than three children on average per week in New Zealand are diagnosed with cancer. Each year New Zealand children with cancer collectively undergo an astounding 75,000 treatments and procedures throughout their journey. For each one they receive a Bead of Courage… The Child Cancer Foundation is committed to supporting children with cancer and their families from the time of diagnosis, throughout their journey of treatments and subsequently the transition back into the community.

By shaving my lid for a brave kid, I’m helping raise the $3 million required each year for child and family support services. I’m passionate about the cause and willing to lose my locks to prove it!

Ariana is home from school at the moment with the flu(two weeks on) and she is OVER IT!! And cant wait to get back to school and be normal again. She had only just got back into the rythm of school routine. It will happen!!!
