There’s a good reason why this awesome chick-duo are getting ready to take on one massive three-day challenge…

Eva Mitchell is Tiffany’s gorgeous, but very sick little four year old. She was born with half a diaphragm and as a result, her vital organs never fully developed. She can’t eat real food, struggles with breathing and has lived in Starship children’s hospital since she was born.

Tiff is by Eva’s side constantly. She even gets up at least three times a night and walks the five minutes from Ronald McDonald House where she lives, to visit Eva in the hospital.

Over the past few weeks Hannah Ockelford from TVNZ’s 20/20 has been filming a story with Eva and the Mitchell family. They’ve discovered that while Eva is extremely sick she is also an incredibly loving and intelligent little girl who loves the life she’s been given.

The thing is little one’s, like Eva, wouldn’t be alive today without the help of charities like Cure Kids. Not only do they support medical research, but they also support, love and inspire the families that have to deal with having a sick child. The Mitchell family are hugely grateful to Cure Kids. So for Tiff and Hannah, this is a chance to give back.

Tiff hasn’t left Eva’s side since she was born… so three days is massive.

Hannah likes to be organised; hitchhiking completely freaks her out.

But for Little Eva and Cure Kids, both of these women are ready to challenge themselves.

They KNOW there’ll be laughter, they ACCEPT there may be tears, but they BELIEVE they can do it.

The Accor Hotels $10 Queenstown Challenge was first run in February 1993 and began as a fun challenge between two Queenstown locals to see who could make the return Queenstown to Auckland trip with no money and no assistance from friends and relatives along the way.
The route is kept top secret, with various innovative challenges along the way to test the brains, bodies, and creativity of the teams. Points are awarded based on performance within each challenge, awarding 1st place to the team with the most points. In other words, since this isn’t a “race” those who cross the finish line first aren’t necessarily the winners!

Cure Kids was gifted the license for this event in 2005, and since then we have raised over $2,000,000 for vital medical research into children’s life threatening illnesses.
