The children of the Gifted Education Centre's One Day Schools (tm) are looking to raise much needed funds. The nice people from Mattel have assisted us by providing Scrabble sets - so we are going to play sponsored Scrabble during our Awareness Week (16th-20th June).

'Giftedness' conjures up pictures of talented, happy children; in reality, gifted kids have higher levels than others of depression and under-achievement. Gifted children, when they reach adulthood, are over-represented in the prison population, and in the suicide statistics. Unrecognised gifted children are often labelled as trouble makers.

If you know someone at a One Day School you can sponsor them individually but if not you can sponsor us collectively. The child who raises the most will receive a prize, so if you name the child and class (ie John Smith, Owairaka) in the message below then the amount you donate will be added to their total.

If you live in New Zealand your donation is tax deductible and a receipt will be issued.

$600 will provide a term's worth of One Day Schooling for one child; $2400 will provide a scholarship for one child for a whole year. But every dollar donated will go towards making a difference.
