Please help us!!!
We will be taking part in the 2009 Novotel $10 Queenstown Challenge! This involves teams of two undertaking a series of innovative challenges en route from Auckland to Queenstown over 3 days.
With just $10 we will have to use all possible creativity and ingenuity to make it without flying or driving ourselves. Other people can, of course, drive us, so we hope we meet plenty of generous NZers on the way who wont mind picking up hitch-hikers just this once!
Sound crazy but fun !!! Well yes it is a little; however this is all in the name of funding vital medical research for childrens life threatening illnesses (like diabetes and cystic fibrosis). We only have to find the energy and willpower to survive these 3 days while the kids we are raising funds for have to find the same determination to face their challenges on a daily basis.
AND WHY ARE WE DOING IT?
About Us;
Jen - I am currently working at the Novotel Wellington as a Senior Receptionist. Beforehand I worked at the Mercure Willis Street as a Receptionist & Food and Beverage Shift Leader. Before that I took on Boarding School at Feilding Ag. I grew up in the Wairarapa until my time at high school where I ended up moving all around the North Island! I am definately looking forward to meeting some of the children and raising awareness about Cure Kids to all New Zealanders! So come on guys get behind us and sponsor us!!
Jamie - Born and bred in the big smoke of Taihape! I am currently working at the Novotel Wellington as a Graduate Management Trainee (I met Jen there). Previous to this I studied at Otago for 3 1/2 years doing a Bachelor of Commerce (something about tourism and marketing). The one thing that being a student at Otago taught me was how to survive in ridiculously cold conditions on a minimal amount of money!(Boarding school also taught us that too......) To be honest I can't actually see much difference in this race!!! We will however, need to brush up on our scrounging, begging and creative dressing skills in oder to be successful (we can manage I guess) and will need a lot of help from the public. BUT it's all for a good cause, so get behind us!!! OR ELSE!!!!
RANDOM FACT: We both went to the same boarding school (Jen started the year after Jamie left). So in a weird kinda way we have something in common (generally bad, crazy and interesting experiences that only boarding school babies can appreciate and understand!).
Novotel (the title sponsor of this years $10 Challenge) is part of the Accor group of hotels and resorts operating 29 hotels in New Zealand alone. Accor has been a partner of Cure Kids since 2003 and has helped raised over $1.5 million through a number of events including the $10 challenge. Cure Kids is part of Accors internal culture with huge support and passion from employees and this year we are one of the six Novotel/Accor teams to be involved in the Novotel $10 Challenge. This is a great opportunity to get actively involved in the cause, testing our strength, will and determination and of course raising money for Cure Kids.
So please could you sponsor us? Every dollar counts! Not only are we trying to raise our entry fee of $7,000 for our team, we would like to be the winners of the Cure Kids Champion Fundraising Trophy, which will be presented at the prize giving ceremony at the end of the Race.
Select the "Make a donation" button below. Its simple, fast and totally secure and the money goes straight to Cure Kids.
If you live in New Zealand your donation is tax deductible and a receipt will be issued.
Thanks for your support! (and keep an eye on our blog theyll be some hilarious stories, guaranteed!)
