I’m shaving my lid for a brave kid!

Hi there to my wonderful friends, family, workmates and fans!

I’ll be shaving my lid on 14th April at 4pm, at my house in Palmerston North. Come down and watch, it’ll be heaps of fun! These long locks will be removed once $2500 has been raised, so lets meet the goal and then exceed it!

More than three children on average per week in New Zealand are diagnosed with cancer. Each year New Zealand children with cancer collectively undergo an astounding 75,000 treatments and procedures throughout their journey. For each one they receive a Bead of Courage… The Child Cancer Foundation is committed to supporting children with cancer and their families from the time of diagnosis, throughout their journey of treatments and subsequently the transition back into the community.

By shaving my lid for a brave kid, I’m helping raise the $3 million required each year for child and family support services. I’m passionate about the cause and willing to lose my locks to prove it!

So apart from the great reasons above I would like to fill you all in on a few more reasons as to why I have chosen to participate in this great event:
1. To get a quick cheap hair cut.
2. So I do not have to remove long hair from the drain in the shower. Mum will be pleased about this also as this particularly fun task is most often left up to her.
3. To feel my head for the first time without having hair all over it.
4. To have people rub their hands all over my head (the most enjoyable reason!).
And lastly, but most importantly,
5. I wish to dedicate this endeavour of mine to my Grandma, Margaret Hurrell. She unfortunately lost her battle with cancer on the 15th of October 2009. I will always be thankful for all that she has given me; a wonderful family to be a part of and an extraordinary mother.

So give a lot or a little (but preferably a lot!) and let’s get this thing going. Tell friends, family, colleagues, anyone you know or perhaps don’t know, and get them to support such a great cause too!
