YES, YES, YES ... we are doing it again

WE'RE SHAVING OUR LIDS FOR THE BRAVE KIDS ... FOR THE SIXTH CONSECUTIVE TIME!

We shaved our lids on Sunday 20 November 2011 at Coastlands in Paraparaumu!

Our inspiration and motivation is the very brave, strong, inspirational children like PETRA and LEXI.

PETRA is an extraordinarily brave and inspirational child that has motivated and inspired us again this year to raise money for the Child Cancer Foundation. Petra turned 15 years old on Tuesday 15 November. She is currently in hospital, as she has had a localised relapse for the third time. Petra was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma when she was just six years old.

Petra is undergoing the second part of major high risk surgery today (Thursday) to remove three vertebrae, which is critical to her survival, but there is a risk of Petra being paralysed. She will also have titanium rods inserted in her back to replace the three vertebrae that need to be removed!

Petra is an incredibly strong, resilient and brave girl, who never complains about the procedures she has had to endure over many years.

*** EXCELLENT NEWS ... Petra's operation went really, really well and in fact, she was allowed to go home from hospital on Monday 28 November!

More than three children on average per week in New Zealand are diagnosed with cancer. Each year New Zealand children with cancer collectively undergo an astounding 75,000 treatments and procedures throughout their journey. The Child Cancer Foundation is committed to supporting children with cancer and their families from the time of diagnosis, throughout their journey of treatments and subsequently the transition back into the community.

By shaving our lids we are helping raise the $3 million required each year for child and family support services.
