My IRONMAN buddy "Liam"

I have an IRONMAN buddy through the
Cystic Fibrosis Association (www.cfnz.org.nz). His name is "Liam", and he is a cool 9 year old from Cambridge (See a little about Liam below).

"Hi, I am Liam. I love anything that involves adventure and fun, I'm 9 and I have a younger brother Lenny who is nearly 4, he doesn’t have CF.
I've been rock climbing for 2 years now in a kids club and I absolutely love it!! I'm getting really good at it and enter in the bouldering competitions when they are on. I spend heaps of time playing on my jungle gym and general outside playing with my brother and friends. I love going on bike rides with my family, we went on an 18km bike ride the other day out to the lake and had a swim, and it was really fun. We bike and walk a lot as a family because dad usually has the car for work and its fun because its summer and I love summer!! In the winter I play hockey. We have a pool at our place and I swim in that heaps in the summer.
I am homeschooled by my mum. I have heaps of friends that I catch up with during the week at different activities like art, speech and drama classes, group piano lessons and family days and we always have loads of fun.
We have been to ironman twice now, I love going and supporting my athlete and helping out doing all the fundraising. It’s so cool that you guys can raise heaps of money for Cystic Fibrosis because there is no cure.
I have to do lots of therapy every day; mum never gives me a day off!! It’s real annoying but I know I need to do it to keep as healthy as possible. I've just had sinus surgery 2 months ago. I actually have not been sick for about 4 months which is really good for me, about 6 months ago I had to do lots of nebulised antibiotics, it sucks when I have to do that because I end up doing 4 nebulisers a day and it takes soooo much time and its soooo boring. Mum then makes me do lots of coughing and huffing to move out the mucus from my lungs so I don’t get infections as often. Every day I have to take about 30 pills so that I can grow well, I am growing really well now and mum makes me eat heaps of food so that I can grow just like my friends. I need lots of calories every day so I can grow normal, that means I'm allowed big milkshakes, butter on my veges, chips and lots of mums home baking!!! My mum is pretty big on good homemade food so she feeds me well. My mum is a naturopath and so she makes me takes lots of yucky herbs and supplements, but I know that it’s good for me."
