Exactly 1 month / 4 weeks from today, is the race! I am both excited and a little nervous, which I think is okay. I feel like I am doing everything necessary to be fully prepared both physically and mentally.

My Coach Craig has been integral to getting me to where I am, so many thanks to him and all the work he has put in.

My family and I will meet Tayler and his family when we leave for Auckland in 3 short weeks... I can't express how excited I am for that.

I want to thank everyone for your patience and understanding over the past 9 months of training. YOU - my family, friends, girlfriend Lee, and colleagues have all been wonderful in showing your support. It has been quite a journey, and I've learned a lot about myself.

Happy New Year!

46 days away! I ran in the Houston Half Marathon yesterday and finished it successfully executing the race plan Craig and I laid out. Most importantly, I had fun doing it.

Your support of my training and fundraising has been instrumental. The selfless contributions that have been made never cease to amaze me, especially in today's economy. They will ultimately help increase Tayler's quality of life and prolong his longevity. I can't wait for the opportunity to meet him in just 7 weeks.

The event is now less than three months away - 84 days to be exact and counting down...

Training is continuing to go well, despite the recent inclement Houston weather. My coach, Craig, has me hitting it pretty hard, but is helping me ensure I do the right things to "get" to NZ and complete the race.

NEW INSPIRATION - TAYLER PAYNE

Hi everyone, I have been "buddied" up with 3 yr old Tayler Payne from Auckland. Tayler has Cystic Fibrosis and fights every day against the disease. Every dollar you help raise goes toward helping supply Tayler, along with other NZ kids diagnosed, with physical education and contributes equipment which makes a world of much difference to their lungs - keeping Tayler and kids active; this is integral to help get the mucus out of their lungs, and ultimately increase the longevity of their lives.

Being active along with research will better the quality of life as well. Every little bit helps facilitate this - no matter the amount.

I hope you enjoy his pictures to the left as much as I do!

I continue to receive incredible support, and I appreciate not only the dollars donated, but the inspiring words you write. THANK YOU!!

I am going to take everyone's comments with me on a laminated card for the race as reminders.

Thank you for visiting my page. I have already received a ton of support in the first two weeks.

I just completed a Half Ironman (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run) north of Houston last weekend. It went very well and gave me a good gauge as to where I am (and need to be!) for New Zealand in 4 months.

Hi Everyone,

Many of you have supported me over the past 3+ years in raising over $11,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Thank you.

I am now participating in an event to test myself, both physically and mentally.

On March 6, 2010, I will be competing in my first Ironman event in New Zealand.

I will do most of the hard work; train for and complete this event. All I ask is for your continued support in my training and help to make a difference in the New Zealand community for this noble cause, Breath4CF.

Breath4CF gives financial assistance to people with Cystic Fibrosis so that there is no barrier to participating in life preserving exercise or activity. CF is far too prevalent throughout New Zealand. Physical exercise is the best way for a person with CF to preserve their own quality of life, lung function and longevity.

Here is a little information on CF:

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition that a child can only be born with if BOTH parents carry the defective gene. 1 in 25 people in New Zealand carry the gene that causes CF, making it New Zealand most common life threatening genetic condition.

CF has devastating effects on people born with it; the condition affects a large number of body organs and functions but manifests particularly in the lungs, leading to progressive and irreversible lung damage. Sadly there is no known cure and people with CF have an average life expectancy of only 29 years here in New Zealand.
