Mandy and Glenn are our dear friends. It is through our friendship that we share the highs, lows, laughter and tears of our children's lives.On 14th May 2012 Mandy contacted us with the devastating news that their 6 year old son Darcy, has Neuroblastoma, a cancerous tumor that attacks the nervous system tissue in small children.

Darcy, like many children with cancer is undergoing chemotherapy to shrink the tumor, before Starship's surgeons attempt to remove it.Following high doses of chemotherapy, he may undergo a stem cell transplant, radiotherapy and immunotherapy. He will need treatment for 18 months. He is far away from his Dad, brother, sister, friends, family and classmates. In between treatments Darcy stays at Ronald MacDonald House with his Mum.

For Families like Darcy's, life is turned upside down. On our visits we have observed the strength, frustration and tears that children with cancer and their families endure.

Mike's Climb for Starship Children with Cancer, is fundraising towards helping Starship fund the CADD Solis Pump which will help deliver IV therapy, an MRI compatible wheelchair, the Medrand Stelland pressure injector allowing for more accurate administration of X-ray contrast, a portable scanner and a high performance liquid chromatography system amongst many other items. $437,906 is needed to fund these items to support children with cancer at Starship. Every dollar counts, your contribution in helping Mike reach 10,000 for this appeal is needed.

Mike: On the 9th August 2012,along with two other Dads, I am Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro to show our support for 'Darcy' and'Starship Children with Cancer'. With pride I will take a Flag on our journey, to the top, which has been designed specifically for this event. Reaching the top and waving the flag,symbolises the hundreds of steps children with cancer and their families take, for hope, for life.
