30/11/2007	ASB Contact Centre	$1,236.70	We like to have fun in our workplace and this quarter we decided that our fun events could raise some money and awareness for a charity. Our choice of CANTEEN was because we share similar values: we do it right, we are one team, we show respect, we keep it real, we live life and also because we wanted to support two people who could so selflessly take a year out of their lives to raise money for CANTEEN. We feel extremely humbled by Kerrin and Genna’s 12 month horse trek around NZ and we really wanted to contribute and support their cause. So we put the idea to the staff and were able to raise this money by the teams and individuals doing and contributing to some interesting events over a 3 week period: playing bingo, making cakes/cookies and selling them, a mufti day, a team BBQ, guessing the nos. of lollies in a jar, guessing the amount that would be raised in the team, raffle, lunchtime films and food, motorbike cleaning, Melbourne Cup winnings, to name a few. We were astonished to have raised this amount which was far beyond what we thought we would get, but more importantly we are proud to have had the opportunity to contribute to such a worthwhile cause and along the way, feel the rewards that ‘giving’ provides.
