Accor Hotels $10 Queenstown Challenge |
| EVENT DATE: |
30/11/2011 |
As you may know, two 18 year old Cromwell girls, Emma and Hayley, have entered the $10 Queenstown Challenge, and we would love you to get involved by donating us money to help us reach our goal of atleast $7150!
Because we have raised so much money, Emma is now in a team with Catherine Marnane, head girl of Cromwell College. Hayley has joined up with Diane from Cromwell Copy and Print, one of our main sponsors.
The Accor Hotels $10 Queenstown Challenge was first run in February 1993 and began as a fun challenge between two Queenstown locals to see who could make the return Queenstown to Auckland trip with no money and no assistance from friends and relatives along the way.
Over the years the rules have changed slightly, but the game remains the same. Each competitor gets $10 to survive on throughout his or her travels. Cure Kids provides accommodation each night through our generous partners, and dinner and breakfast each day. The route is kept top secret, with various innovative challenges along the way to test the brains, bodies, and creativity of the teams. Points are awarded based on performance within each challenge, awarding 1st place to the team with the most points. In other words, since this isn’t a “race” those who cross the finish line first aren’t necessarily the winners!
Cure Kids was established over 30 years ago to address the lack of research into life-threatening childhood illnesses in New Zealand. Since then, they have invested over $25 million in medical research. This research has helped save hundreds of young lives and has improved the quality of life for thousands of children.
Select the 'Make a donation' button below. It's simple, fast and totally secure and the money goes straight to Cure Kids. If you live in New Zealand your donation is tax deductible and a receipt will be issued.
