Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I am running across China's Gobi Desert beginning 27 June 2010. I'll do all the hard work; train for and complete this event, but I really need your help to make a difference to my charity, Hospice Eastern Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.

I will run 250 km of stony desert affectionately named "the oven." It's the hottest place in China and the second lowest place on Earth. This seven-day, six-stage footrace will include canyons and mountains that reach altitudes of 3,000 metres and the most distant point from an ocean in the world!

I am challenging myself mentally and physically for this race across the Gobi Desert, and I am challenging YOU to help me raise funds for Hospice Eastern Bay of Plenty. Hospice EBOP provides free-of-charge specialist palliative care services to patients with a life-limiting illness and their family/whanau.

I choose to support Hospice EBOP because I believe it's an invaluable resource for families trying to cope with the stress and anxiety of terminal illness. As a general practitioner, I am accutely aware of the high level of professionalism and compassion with which they serve the Eastern Bay of Plenty community, and I am very proud to support their efforts in this small way.
