Hello people,
Come April 2009, I'll have finished my life here in New Zealand. The time will have come to travel back to my homeland in the distant north...the land of ice and fire - Iceland. Airports are boring and aeroplane food isn't that great, so I decided that riding back (on a motorbike not a horse!) and seeing what lies between these two far away countries would be more like an exciting adventure. My plan also appealed to fellow Icelandic childhood friend Viggo Mar Jensen. So it was decided, the two of us set out for Iceland next year.
Unicef work to help children in all the regions that we will ride through, and we decided that this trip would be a great opportunity to be able to help others along the way.
As we go we'll be taking lots of pictures of current Unicef work, which they will hopefully be able to put to good use but just in case my photography isn't too flash (excuse the pun) I thought I'd attempt to get some of my friends to donate some cold hard cash!
Those of you familiar with my habit of having big ideas and barely thinking them through will know that whilst traveling thousands of kilometres across the world, there's a good chance that I'll lose the bike over the side of a ferry or get hungry and come home. So dig deep and shame me into carrying on in the face of laughable mishaps and easily preventable equipment failures!
If you decide to sponsor me on this gruelling holiday, rest assured that all your money will be going straight to Unicef and will not be used to cover 'expenses' or anything like that.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us.
Unicef will receive your money faster and if you are a NZ taxpayer, any donation is tax-deductible (receipt's are provided). So please sponsor me now!
We will keep a blog about our traveling. www.nz2iceland.blogspot.com
Many thanks for your support.
Ingolfur and Viggo.
