Thanks for visiting our Scooter Safari Fundraising page - that's awesome!

Our names are Mike Rattray, Wayne Cook, Ben Walker and Damion Haines. We are 4 aircraft engineers working at Air New Zealand's #1 Hangar.

Sadly one of our team mates was recently diagnosed with Bowel Cancer and has just begun a long process of surgeries and chemo treatment. We wanted to help, so we'll be riding scooters coast to coast, Christchurch to Hokitika, to raise funds for the Cancer Society.

We thought that if hes going to endure a sore butt from his surgery, then we should get sore butts too!

We set off on Saturday 13 June 2009, riding approx 250km through the Southern Alps, hopefully arriving at the pub in Hokitika later that day (all going well).

Our scooters, all step-thrus, old, and quite questionable. Just take a look at the pics - you'll see that we are not small riders.

It'll be challenging, exciting & certainly an experience. We'll not only be pushing ourselves physically, but as engineers we'll have to use all our nouse to keep the bikes running and come out the other side in one piece.

Along the way well be taking photos and recording our accounts of adversity and the fun we had along the way. The article will be published in a future issue of Kiwi Rider magazine.

However, most important of all, our goal is to raise $10,000 or more for the Cancer Society. It's about making a difference!

In 2010 we hope to do it again, bigger and better and you'll be invited to join us. With more organisation well be aiming to have sponsors on board, organised support crews, accommodation and return transport for participants. This year is just our test run.
